BULLYING POLICY
Humboldt County School District (HCSD) updated Policy 5145 addressing the issue of the Safe and Respectful Learning Environment following the 2015 Legislative Session. HCSD's "Say No to Bullying" page was developed to facilitate accessibility for individuals to report alleged incidents of bullying. Once an incident is submitted via this website, an email is generated to the district's Assistant Superintendent who is then responsible for providing the information to the individual school's administration notifying them of the report. Reports may be submitted anonymously. The HCSD “Say No To Bullying” page is not monitored during weekends, holidays or after school hours.

Federal Bureau of Investigation--Safe Online Surfing
The FBI Safe Online Surfing program is a nationwide initiative to educate children about the dangers they face on the internet to help prevent crimes against children. It promotes cyber citizenship among students by engaging them in a fun, age-appropriate, online program where they learn how to safe and responsible using the internet.
Let’s Get Real examines issues that lead to taunting and bullying, including racial differences, perceived sexual orientation, learning disabilities, religious differences, sexual harassment and others. “Let’s Get Real” curriculum guide features valuable lesson plans, discussion starters, classroom activities and handouts for teachers to use in conjunction with the film.
SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) offers a free app, KnowBullying. KnowBullying has simple conversation starters to begin a dialogue with your child. The app also features bullying prevention tips, bullying warning signs, reminders to talk with your child, social media options, and a section for educators.

Nevada Department of Education Bully Free Zone
The Bully Free Zone web site is designed to assist students, parents, and school staff with bully prevention methods. The resources and information included on this web site are structured to be easy to use for everyone. This is not an inclusive list of resources.
As Nevada's statewide Parent Center, they support families that have a child that has experienced bullying by providing information, parent workshops, and webinars. Their mission is to increase the opportunities for home, community and school success for children with disabilities, including those who are at risk or who have serious emotional disturbances, their families and their service providers, through education, encouragement and empowerment activities.
Operation Respect is a non-profit education and advocacy organization dedicated to transforming schools, summer camps, and other youth-serving organizations into respectful, safe and compassionate climates of learning, free of bullying, ridicule and violence.
PACER Center’s National Bullying Prevention Center
Founded in 2006, PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center actively leads social change, so that bullying is no longer considered an accepted childhood rite of passage. PACER provides innovative resources for students, parents, educators, and others, and recognizes bullying as a serious community issue that impacts education, physical and emotional health, and the safety and well-being of students.

The Bully Project offers a specially designed tool kit for parents, teachers and students dealing with bullying and children with special needs. This toolkit is a set of resources for people to confront bullying of children with special needs from all angles - from talking to your children to knowing your rights to teaching tolerance in schools.
Welcoming Schools, a project of the HRC Foundation, is a comprehensive approach to improving school climate in elementary school environments with training, resources, and lessons to help schools in embracing family diversity, creating LGBTQ-inclusive schools, preventing bias-based bullying, creating gender-expansive schools, and supporting transgender and non-binary students.
